It’s Your First Session with Carolina Counseling Services – Sanford, NC

Congratulations on your decision to take a proactive stance to make your life better, and welcome to Carolina Counseling Services – Sanford, NC. It is our pleasure to assist you. There is no need to feel apprehensive. We are here to help!

We understand that life has not been easy lately, so we would like to make your first session as stress-free as possible. To ensure a smooth start, here are the simple steps to follow for your first session.

Step 1: Come Early to Relax

A space reminiscent of home awaits you at the CCS – Sanford office, 304 N. Horner Blvd, Sanford, NC, 27330. The cleanquiet, comfortable, private waiting area was designed to make you feel safe and at ease. When you feel relaxed and secure, it can be easier to share your thoughts and feelings with your therapist.

So, come before your appointment. The extra time will allow you to enjoy the welcoming, homey space and its therapeutic effect.

Step 2: Let’s Do the Paperwork!

Coming about 20 minutes ahead of your scheduled appointment will also give you the chance to fill out the necessary forms in the waiting area without being rushed. The paperwork is nothing extraordinary or tedious, and the information we need is basic, but it helps us do our work and serve you better.

When you call to request an appointment, you will be advised what to bring with you for your first session, such as an identification card, your insurance card (if you are using insurance), or some cash or credit card (if there is an amount you need to pay, such as session fees, deductibles, or copays to your therapist).

Step 3: Meet Your Therapist

At your scheduled appointment time, your therapist will meet you. Before starting the session, hand over your ID and insurance card for photocopying and pay the fees for the session if needed. If paying by cash, a receipt will be issued to acknowledge your payment.

The first session is generally spent on asking questions to evaluate your symptoms, your concerns and to get your family and medical history, which may have important bearings on your present issues. The answers to these questions are critical in deciding and planning how to help you.

Step 4: Making the Decision

Your therapy goals can be successfully achieved when you and your therapist are the right fit for each other. At the end of the first session, both you and your therapist must make a decision based on how the first session went.

If you feel that you can entrust your treatment to your therapist because there is “good chemistry” between you, proceed with scheduling your next session or standing appointments.  If you or your therapist thinks, however, that you can be better helped by another therapist with the right expertise, a referral will be made.

Let us help you bounce back and recover what you may have lost in the process—laughter, productivity, hope, etc. Don’t hesitate; Carolina Counseling Services – Sanford, NC, is waiting for you so we can journey together to rediscover and recapture the beauty of your life.
